Regent Street Boardroom, University of Westminster

The project comprises proposals for the refurbishment of an outdated boardroom in a Grade II listed building in central London. The University currently uses the space as a function space and large meeting room and also rents it out to the public for similar uses. At maximum capacity the Boardroom can accommodate 90 people, to increase by 10% after the proposed works are completed.

Our design improves the interiors within the board room to bring it up to date and facilitate a variety of uses while remaining sensitive to the heritage of this listed building. Interventions include new rooflights and glazing and modern lighting design throughout to bring light deep into the floor plan, making the space feel airy and open. Partition walls at either end of the room will provide discrete storage space for furniture, giving flexibility for multiple uses. Extensive decoration and repair work will be sensitively done to reveal heritage features and enhance the beauty of the original design details.

Our proposal also includes renovations to the entrance corridor to create a new lobby area, improving accessibility and providing a grander view of the Boardroom on entering.

Additional works include improved storage facilities, refurbished WCs and improved accessibility. The existing M&E system will be entirely replaced, improving lighting, heating and sustainability within the building. Externally, brickwork, glazing and roof repairs will also be undertaken.
