The Mezzanine, Luton Airport, Luton
The mezzanine project introduces a new restaurant and bar space within the International Departure Lounge (IDL) at Luton Airport for the prospective tenant, TRG. This initiative aims to enhance capacity and generate additional commercial income within the IDL, aligning with the long-term development plans for the broader airport.
The LLA Mezzanine extends the existing concessionaire retail unit (formerly Frankie & Benny’s) on Level 20. The project includes the construction of a new mezzanine floor at an elevation of 4.81m above the existing finished floor level (FFL), with new stairs and lift connections to the existing lounge area.
The installation of new foundations and a substructure extending through three floors below required seamless integration with the existing building structure, all carried out within the operational constraints of a live airport environment.
The tenant is responsible for designing and constructing the retail fit-out which is currently underway and expected to be complete late spring 2025.
In June of this year the Mezzanine was awarded European Winner of the Airport Food & Beverage Hospitality Awards - Airport Restaurant Design of the Year.
