Financial Institution, London
Rock Townsend and their sub-consulted multi-disciplinary team were commissioned to refurbish and reconfigure two floors of office space for a financial client in the City of London. The project aimed to reorganize the workspace to align with the client’s evolving ways of working while creating an uplifting, inspirational environment to attract and retain top talent.
above and above right. entrance reception; right. main office area. The design includes a variety of work, break-out, and social spaces, all offering flexibility for future adaptations and potential expansion. A welcoming reception area introduces the open-plan workspace, which is interspersed with executive offices, one-on-one huddle rooms, acoustically enhanced break-out zones, and a suite of AV-equipped meeting rooms. These meeting spaces can be combined into a large boardroom for maximum flexibility.
To prioritize staff well-being and facilitate client hosting, the design incorporates high-quality catering facilities, including functional tea points and kitchenettes, as well as a large social kitchen and dining area. This space doubles as a venue for external meetings, accommodating larger gatherings when needed. Rock Townsend worked closely with the client to develop a bespoke brand aesthetic through graphic design, signage, furniture, and material selection, ensuring a cohesive and tailored environment.
The workspace accommodates 80 people across the two floors, with built-in flexibility to expand the number of workstations if future needs arise.
The project was completed in two phases, allowing the client to maintain full operation of their offices throughout, ensuring no disruption to their business activities.
