TRLC Library

Oxford Brookes University

The new Teaching, Research and Learning Centre (TRLC) is the first of the buildings to go ahead under the Campus Development Plan and will be the ignitor for future development, refurbishment and a revived enthusiasm for the future of the campus.

The new building proposes to enhance the unique rural location of the campus by using the building to connect students to the surrounding landscape. This will not only promote wellbeing amongst both students and staff but will enable a light filled sustainable building providing views back across Oxford. The proposed location of the TRLC on the campus will create a new hub of activity that will link all retained buildings including the sports block, refurbished teaching blocks and existing student residences. This will also increase the security across the campus during both day time and night time, with the new building providing enough flexibility to be opened 24hours if necessary.

The variety and types of spaces offered throughout the building cater to all students’ requirements and desires for different types of study space. Accommodation is appropriately zone and defined by furniture typologies, lighting levels and acoustic qualities.
