The Osmani Centre was officially opened by the Mayor of Tower Hamlets in February 2012. In its pioneering combination of functions and its innovative use of space, this scheme now forms the benchmark for youth and community centres across the Borough. The four storey building has a tight cubic form which derives from the 'sehan'; the traditional Moorish courtyard house. Natural light and ventilation penetrate deep into the heart of the plan though a glazed vertical atrium.
The aspiration of the project was to not only to fulfill the technical requirements of a modern inner-city youth and community facility but to be a prominent landmark and focal point for the area.
