Office Refurbishment

City of London

Rock Townsend and their sub-consulted multi-disciplinary team were appointed to refurbish and reconfigure two floors of offices for a financial client in the City of London. The brief involved the reorganisation of both floors to provide a more effective workspace tuned to the client’s new way of working whilst creating an uplifting and inspirational environment in order to attract and retain the highest quality staff.

The scheme comprises a variety of work, break-out and social spaces all incorporating the flexibility for future change and potential expansion.  An open and welcoming reception area fronts the open plan workspace which is interspersed with a number of executive offices, 1-1 huddle rooms, acoustically enhanced break-out zones  and a suite of AV rich meeting rooms which can all be opened up to form a single large boardroom for added flexibility.

The client was keen to ensure a high quality catering provision was included for the well-being of the staff and for hosting clients, with the design incorporating a series of functional tea-point/ kitchenettes and a large social kitchen/dining space, which can also be used for external meetings if a bigger single space is required. Rock Townsend worked closely with the client in developing the brand ‘look and feel’ through the design of the graphics and signage as well as furniture and materials selection to ensure a coherent and suitable environment for the client’s specific requirements.

The design accommodates 80 people across the two floors with the flexibility to increase the number of workstations if future changes require greater capacity.

The Rock Townsend multi-disciplinary team provided services including Architecture, Principal Designer, Project Management, Cost control, MEP, Acoustic and Approved Inspector services from inception and briefing through procurement to completion and handover.

The project was completed in two phases, allowing the client to occupy the offices throughout to ensure no disruption to their ongoing business activity.
