This proposal forms part of a city wide new-build, affordable housing programme to meet the existing and predicted housing needs of City as set out within Cambridge City Council’s Interim Housing Strategy 2017.
The third site for Cambridge Investment Partnerships, Markham Close garage court sits adjacent to an existing flatted building and to the rear of 2 storey private houses. The initial studies looked at a stand alone option as well as the option to demolish the flats and redevelop.
The site was under-utilised and comprised bungalows and a block of flats built in the late 50’s that no longer met the standards expected for affordable homes.
