Rock Townsend, with Arcadis, have been instructed to undertake a feasibility study to consider options for the refurbishment or redevelopment of the former Cranvale Care Home at Buntingbridge Road.
Options 1 and 2 sought to refurbish the existing building for temporary accommodation with Options 3, 4 and 5 proposing a new build affordable housing led redevelopment.
All options were subject to viability modelling with Option 3, 4 and 5 chosen as most value for money ahead of a pre-application submission to the LPA for formal feedback.
The LPA’s preference was for Option 5 which is different design solution to others requiring the stopping up of an existing footpath and the reintroduction of the original road layout that was in place prior to the care-home being built.
The preferred options provides two separate buildings of 2, 3 and 4 storeys which provide 29 one, two and three bedroom flats and 8 three houses.
Description: 37 new-build one, two and three bedroom dwellings with 35% of the dwellings, two and three bedroom, for affordable rent.
