Rock Townsend, with Arcadis, have been instructed to undertake a feasibility study to consider options for the refurbishment or redevelopment of the former Cranvale Care Home at Buntingbridge Road.
Options 1 and 2 sought to refurbish the existing building for temporary accommodation with Options 3, 4 and 5 proposing a new build affordable housing led redevelopment.
All options were developed financially and Option 3, 4 and 5 drawn and modelled and submitted as part of a pre-application to the LPA for formal feedback.
Option 5 is a different design solution to the other two. It requires the stopping up of an existing footpath through the site, partially reintroducing the original layout that was in place prior to the care-home being built. It provides two separate buildings of 2, 3 and 4 storeys which provide 29 flats and eight houses in total.
Description: 37 new-build one, two and three bedroom dwellings with 35% of the dwellings, two and three bedroom, for affordable rent.
