Breakmead & Cowper Road, Welwyn Garden City
These two sites, currently underused garages, are part of a group of infill sites earmarked to become Housing Association properties.
Breakmead is a row of terraced housing, inspired by the existing stock in the Garden City but designed to be of it's time. The protruding ground floor creates the threshold between public open space and private domain that is often missing in this typology.
Cowper Road is a set of three bungalows designed for the over 55s demographic. The gardens are of a manageable size and interaction is encouraged by low walls and a shared green space along the pedestrian path.
