Bishop's Hatfield Girls' School

One of four new secondary schools being designed by RT as part of the Hertfordshire, Luton and Reading Priority School Building Programme with the Interserve Kajima consortium.

Amalgamating the School into a high-tech three story building, the design seeks to maximise the ability of this outstanding school to offer first class learning opportunities in a highly sustainable and ICT integrated environment.

Our approach, based on a set of standard design principles and carefully selected range of components, has created a bespoke design solution for Bishop’s Hatfield School.

The new school will be accommodated under one roof providing an optimum learning environment with regards to natural ventilation, lighting and acoustic insulation and clarity.  The design provides an environment which offers break-out spaces that aims to promote the sense of school community as well as informal learning spaces.  The central atria spaces throughout the building introduce natural light deep into the building plan and make for dramatic spaces and vertical dynamic within the building.

The new building is designed to be a very valuable community asset with new first class internal and external sports provision, assembly hall, and drama suite available for community use.
